ब्रेल पद्धति एक तरह की लिपि है,जिसको विश्व भर में नेत्रहीनों को पढ़ने और लिखने में छूकर व्यवहार में लाया जाता है।इस पद्धति का आविष्कार 1824 में एक नेत्रहीन फ्रांसीसी लेखक लुई ब्रेल ने किया था। जो खुद एक नेत्रहीन व्यक्ति थे।

ब्रेल प्रणाली में 64 डॉट पैटर्न या वर्ण होते हैं प्रत्येक वर्ण एक अक्षर,अक्षरों का संयोजन,एक सामान्य शब्द या एक व्याकरणिक संकेत का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

The Braille system consists of 64 dot patterns or characters including no dots at all for word space. Each character represents a letter,a combination of letters, a common word or a grammatical sign.
